Suffolk tennis player Elena Baltacha is through to the second round of Wimbledon after beating Italy's Karin Knapp.
The 28-year-old British number two, who is from Ipswich, won 4-6 6-4 6-0 yesterday (Tuesday 26 June). She had cause for a double celebration after also being told that she had been given a place in the Olympic tennis event, which is due to be held at Wimbledon from the 28th of July.
Baltacha said she was thrilled to be have been given the opportunity:

"I just can't explain to you how amazing it feels, you know, all my hard work over the last so many years and, you know, all the time I have played Fed Cup. Everything has just been so, so worth it. I'm really honoured and privileged that I have been given that chance."
Baltacha faces a tough opponent in the second round of Wimbledon, when she takes on defending champion Petra Kvitova.
