Colchester United have signed striker Freddie Sears on a free transfer following his release from West Ham United.
The 22 year old joins on a three year contract, extending his stay at the League One club after a spell on loan last season.
Speaking on Twitter, Sears said, 'Buzzing to get it all sorted can't wait to get started now'.
U's boss John Ward described the deal as 'a great deal for the supporters particularly and the club in general'.
'We are really pleased - he is a player we know and it is perhaps down to me that he didnt get as many games as he would have liked in his initial spell, but it is a changed situation for him this time'.
Colchester skipper Kem Izzet has also signed a new contract. The 31 year old celebrated his testimonial with the club in May.
Meanwhile defender Magnus Okuonghae has left the U's as he seeks Championship football. The 26 year old rejected a new contract to end his three year stay at the Weston Homes Community Centre.
On Twitter, Okuonghae thanked Colchester supporters, saying, 'Would like to thank all the fans for the support over the last 3yrs at col u. I loved my time at the club and had an amazing rapport with the fans, staff & teammates. Was a very hard decision to make.. And it was solely for personal reasons'.
Okuonghae follows striker Steve Gillespie, goalkeeper Ben Williams and winger Ashley Vincent who have all moved on.
