Tows launch Facebook page to help get the fans to Silverstone

Towcestrians RFC have launched a Facebook page to help people who have tickets for the 2012 British Grand Prix get to the race.

The page – ‘Help get the fans to Silverstone’ – puts local people who have space on their drives and in their gardens in touch with those visiting Northamptonshire for the event.

Mini and Junior chairman Crispin Slee said: “The terrible weather has thrown a spanner into the works for this year’s British Grand Prix.

“The campsites have been forced to close and the circuit is doing the sensible thing by discouraging people to turn up for today’s practice.

“But no-one wants anyone to miss out on the big race itself. There must be acres of space in the gardens of local people where ticket holders could either park or camp.

“We’re very proud to have Silverstone on our doorstep. We want to help them in their hour of need and demonstrate that the great British spirit is alive and well in South Northamptonshire.”

As well as launching the page, Towcestrians RFC have offered to park 250 cars on their hard-standing at their ground and shuttle people to the race.
