Heavy rain hits the region

Heavy overnight rain has caused problems at the Tendring Hundred Show in Essex. Organisers of the agricultural show, held at Lawford near Manningtree, asked people to stay away until midday, and then only use the car park if they have a 4x4 vehicle.

Up to 25,000 people were expected to attend.

Four Environment Agency flood warnings are currently in place across the Anglia region.

Girton, Cambridge:

Woodlands Park, Woodlands Close, Dodford Lane, Fairway, Northfield, Oakington Road.

Warning issued following reports of property flooding in Girton; Dodford Lane closed until further notice.

Grendon Brook catchment, Northamptonshire:

Yardley Hastings, Denton, Bozeat, Easton Maudit, Grendon.

Bin Brook, Newnham, Cambridge:

Properties close to the Bin Brook including Barton Road, Dane Drive, Fulbrooke Road, Gough Way, Grantchester Road, Herschel Road, Penarth Place, Sylvester Road, Wootton Way.

River levels are continuing to rise and further rainfall is expected. Environment Agency staff are on the ground supporting local residents.
