With the opening ceremony of the OIympics this evening (Friday 27 July) London rail stations are expected to be very busy with people travelling to and from the Games.

Passengers from Liverpool Street station, which connects with the Olympic Park at Stratford, are being warned that it may take up to 30 minutes to board trains. There are no major rail delays at the moment, but Olympic lanes are in operation and the roads into London are likely to be congested.

For those travelling from Hertfordshire a park and ride service from Redbourn to the Olympic Park opens for business today. The town's county showground has more than two and a half thousand parking spaces and capacity for more than 9,000 people. It is operating 24 hours a day until mid August.
