Charities in Suffolk fear they could lose thousands of pounds in donations because of a new textile recycling scheme launched by councils across the county.
The Suffolk Waste Partnership has started collecting clothes and other items to cut down on landfill.
Charity bosses say they often send clothes they cannot sell on to recycling schemes so very little is gained from the new move. But they fear it will stop people taking their old clothes to charity shops.
The Suffolk Waste Partnership says the new collections will stop 7,000 tonnes of unwanted clothes ending up in landfill every year - saving £600,000.
