The University of East Anglia has been selected as the only trial centre in the UK for a project exploring the effect of diet on healthy ageing.

Researchers at the UEA are looking for 250 local volunteers aged 65-79 to participate in the 'NU-AGE' study.

It will explore the role of diet on the ageing process among different populations in Europe. The UEA's trial will run in parallel with four other identical ones in France, Italy, the Netherlands and Poland.

Thirty per cent of the European population is expected to be over the age of 65 by 2050. Researchers want to find a diet that would help reduce the risk of disorders that occur in later life like cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, and dementia.

The University of East Anglia is hoping to attract more volunteers and you can contact them on email on nuage@uea.ac.uk and by telephone on 01603 591568.
