Ipswich Town are closing in on a deal to sign Senegalese midfielder Guiraine N'Daw on a season-long loan from French club St Etienne.
The 28-year-old spent time on loan with Birmingham City last season where current Norwich City boss Chris Hughton was in charge.Ipswich manger Paul Jewell said "I spoke to Chris Hughton in the summer about him.
"He's one we've been tracking for a while. He speaks very highly of him.'When he was in their team their results were strong. I remember watching him in a game against West Ham. He got injured but he was outstanding up until then."
– Paul Jewell
He's a good player. He's strong and powerful. He can play centre-backbut we see him as a midfield player. We've got some good midfieldplayers here, but we want to add competition and help the group
Meanwhile Jewell confirmed that Canadian international Jaime Peters has left the club by mutual consent after failing to command a regular place in the first team squad.
The 25-year-old had a year left on his contract but made just one first tea appearance last season and spent two months on loan at Bournemouth.
Jewell said: "It hasn't quite worked out for him while I've been here and it was always going to be difficult for him to break in.
"I know he was a bit of a fans' favourite. I'm sure he'll get a club and I wish him well. It's just not worked out for him here".
