Inquest into Dylan Cecil's death opens

Dylan Cecil was on holiday with his parents from Kettering when he disappeared under the muddy water at on Sunday August 19th. His body was found four days later.

No members of Dylan's family were present at today's short hearing in Taunton.

Detective Constable Dawn Forest told the inquest that he was

splashing and jumping near the water's edge Dylan without warning

suddenly jumped off and despite the best efforts of both his parents

who dived into save him he couldn't be found.

On Sunday more than 400 people joined Dylan's parents Rachel

McCollum and Darren Cecil at Burnham- on -Sea for a memorial service..

A minutes silence was held and bouquets of flowers, Teddy bears and

other tributes were left by well wishers. Today's inquest was told the

post mortem examination showed Dylan had drowned.

"There can be nothing more harrowing for any parent

to witness the death of a young child. I hope his parents will take

comfort from the fact that their grief is shared by all in the county

especially in Burnham on sea and by all the emergency services who

tried their best to save him."
