Council plans sale of £2m statue

Campaigners in Northampton say the planned sale of an Egyptian Statue by the Borough Council will set a precedent for the disposal of other artefacts from the town's central museum.

The council is considering disposing of the Sekhemka statue which is valued at £2 million to raise money for other historic projects.
