Britain's largest professional cycling race - the Tour of Britain - began in Suffolk today.

The 101 competitors, which include Bradley Wiggins, set off from Ipswich marina at 10.00 am for the first of the race's eight stages. They are now cycling up the Suffolk coast, passing through Aldeburgh, Leiston and Lowestoft, before heading into Norfolk through Great Yarmouth, Reepham and Dereham and finishing at the Norfolk Showground near Norwich at about 2.45pm.

The presence of high profile cyclists such as Wiggins is expected to pull in millions for the local economy, with thousands of spectators lining the route.
