Finding foster families

Essex County Council is appealing for former teachers, youth workers and social workers to consider fostering a teenager.

There's currently a shortage in the number of foster families prepared to take on older children, who make up the largest percentage of those in care.

There are currently more than 65 thousand children in the care of local authorities across England. 74% of those are living with foster families 58% are aged between 10 to 18

Hannah Pettifer has been to meet one carer in Harlow in Essex who's fostered a 17 year old.
