Thousands take part in Great Eastern Run

Around 5000 runners took part in the Perkins Great Eastern Run in Peterborough, making it the biggest yet.

The race was started by former Olympic champion Sally Gunnell.

The Perkins Great Eastern half marathon and fun run was revived by Peterborough City Council and Perkins in 2006 after a break of 10 years

It wasn't just top athletes pounding Peterborough's streets. The event included a 4km fun run and the half marathon also attracted thousands of non-competitive runners keen to raise money for charity.
