A luxury hotel in Buckinghamshire has found itself at the centre of a snobbery row after turning away a prospective bride and groom for not being the right sort of people.

Pauline Bailey and her fiance Paul Carty, who live in Luton, had hoped to tie the knot at Stoke Park Hotel in Buckinghamshire. However Pauline discovered that they were deemed unsuitable for the five star venue when the hotel's wedding planner, Michele Connelly, accidentally copied Pauline into an email.

The member of staff asks for her manager Carlo Zoccali's advice, saying "I know this probably doesn't sound very nice, but I am trying to put this wedding off as I don't think they are the type of people that we would want to have at Stoke Park."

Today, a national newspaper reported Pauline has worked as a glamour model, but it is not clear if the wedding planner knew this before sending the offending email.

Stoke Park turned down ITV Anglia's request for an interview today but told us it is "a very unfortunate matter" and that they had "apologised profusely" to Paul and Pauline.

The couple have decided to hold their wedding in June 2013 at another venue.
