A man from Cambridgeshire who sexually assaulted two young girls more than 20 years ago has been jailed.
Johnnie Dawkins who is 66 and from Rosemary Gardens, in Peterborough, was arrested after one of the girls came forward last year.
As a result he was charged with six charges of indecent assault on two girls aged under-16, with the offences dating back to the 1980s.
He failed to attend on the first day of his trial, but was arrested and brought back to Peterborough Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to four of the charges.
Dawkins, who already had convictions for indecently assaulting two other children, was jailed for a total of 32 months.
Detective Constable Gavin Sylvester who investigated the case said:
– Cambridgeshire Police
"Dawkins is a repeat offender and clearly a danger to children.
"The victims in this case showed great bravery in coming forward so long after the offences were committed to ensure he was brought to justice."
