Police who have been searching for a missing elderly man in Hertfordshire for three weeks have found a body. 88-year-old Gwyn Morris has been missing from Stanstead Abbotts near Hertford since Thursday 6th December.
Police say while no formal identification has taken place it is believed the body, which was discovered in Feildes Weir Lock at Hoddesdon, is Mr Morris.
Extensive searches have been taking place to find Gwyn since he was reported missing and numerous media appeals have been made by officers and his family.
– Chief Inspector Gerry McDonald, Hertfordshire Police
“This is extremely tragic news and our thoughts are with Gwyn’s daughter Ann and her family. I would like to pay tribute to them for their strength and courage during what has understandably been a very difficult time. I would also like to thank members of the public and the media for their support in the last three weeks.”
