The RSPB is warning that if more isn't done to save the turtle dove it could be extinct within 30 years. Numbers have dropped by 93% in the last thirty years because of a decline in the seed species that they eat. The charity is working with farmers and landowners to ensure enough crops are grown for them.
On the positive side the robin is flourishing, especially in the east of England. As the cold weather advances into the northern region the robin heads south and west into Norfolk and down through the coast. The mild winter means there are at least five million in our gardens and woodlands
