Unemployment in the East of England has risen bucking the national downward trend. The latest figures show 207,000 people out of work in the East of England in the September to November 2012 quarter. That's a rise of 1,000 compared to the previous quarter.
In the East Midlands, which includes Northamptonshire, unemployment was up by 10,000 to 190,000.
Nationally unemployment fell by 37,000 between September and November to 2.49 million.
Compared with a year ago though unemployment is down in both regions. It's down by 12,000 in the East of England and down by 1,000 in the East Midlands. During the recent downturn, unemployment peaked in the East of England at 220,000 in September to November 2011.
