The jury's retired to consider its verdict in the trial of two womenaccused of beating a pensioner to death in Norwich. Kelly Barnes and her civil partner Jodie Barnes are both charged withmurdering Barry Reeve in February last year.
The prosecution alleges they attacked the 67-year-old retired busconductor in his house and robbed him to fund their drink and drug habit.
Mr Reeve's body lay undiscovered for a fortnight before his daughterrealised something was wrong and called the police. Forensic experts believe he could have lived for 24 hours after being attacked.
Prosecution counsel Karim Khalil QC claims both women were involved in killing Mr Reeve and then later returned to his bungalow while he lay dying to steal his possessions.
When she gave evidence, Kelly Barnes told the jury that Jodie hadconfessed to her that she'd killed Mr Reeve. But when she went into the witness box, Jodie Barnes said it was Kelly who attacked him when he attempted to remove some of her clothing.
This is the third week of the trial. Both women deny murdering Mr Reeve.
