An ITV survey has found a worrying number of children in England cannot swim.
A poll commissioned for Daybreak found that 1 in 3 children are unable to swim by the time they leave primary school.
It seems some of the main reasons affecting thousands of families are the rising costs of private lessons, the closure of public pools and cutbacks in school swimming.
More than 400 people drown in the UK each year - a figure that is particularly worrying here in the East where we have some of the most popular seaside and waterways destinations in the country.
We've been talking to swiming star Karen Pickering, from Ipswich, about the work she is doing in the region to help people learn to swim and how being able to swim is a great way of staying fit as well.
