A young driver at the centre of a storm after she boasted on Twitter about colliding with a cyclist has apologised for what she calls a "stupid tweet".

Emma Way's now infamous tweet, with the hashtag "bloody cyclists", followed a minor collision in Snetterton, in Norfolk, with a cyclist taking part in a100-mile cycling event.

Miss Way has now been suspended from the accountancy firm where she works and has given her version of events to police.

Speaking exclusively to ITV News Anglia, the 21-year-old said she was sorry for what had happened. She insisted that she was driving carefully and says she didn't stop because she didn't think the cyclist had come off his bike or had been hurt.

It was a spur of the moment thing and I'm sorry. I didn't realise it would ever escalate to this.
