Plans announced to improve the regions roads

A share of 170 million pounds is to be spent in our region on improving congestion hotspots on our roads.

The money for the East which has been announced today, comes from a Government local pinch point fund.

Here is a full list of roads improvements around the region:

Bedford Borough Council: Bedford Western Bypass Northern Section - Improvements to the existing road network.

Milton Keynes Council: Upgrade of a section of theexisting A421 single carriageway serving the eastern approach to Milton Keynes from M1 J13.

Central Bedfordshire Council: Woodside Link, Houghton Regis - 3.3km road running north east from the junction of Park Road North, Poynters Road and Porz Avenue in Houghton Regis to the proposed M1 Junction 11A which will be constructed as part of the A5-M1 Link Road.

Essex County Counil: A176 Nether Mayne, Basildon - Improvements to increase capacity and reduce congestion.

Essex County Council: Army and Navy Improvements: A1060 Parkway Widening - Improvements at the Army and Navy roundabout a gateway to Chelmsfordwith significant congestion.

Milton Keynes Council: Kingston Roundabout Pinch Point Bid -An enlarged signalised junction and widening of the stop lines.

Norfolk County Council: Great Yarmouth A12-A143 Link Road - New link road to unlock significant housing development and employment land.

Suffolk County Council: Completion of Lowestoft Northern Spine Road. The scheme will provide a 1.1 km new single carriageway and shared walk/cycleway between the Millennium Way/Bentley Drive roundabout and north of the Blundeston Road junction on the A12.
