After the coldest spring for half a century and the chilliest June for almost 20 years, it seems we are about to experience a dramatic improvement. With the school holidays approaching, weather experts are anticipating the warmest summer temperatures for some years.

It's encouraging news for those who work as beach lifeguards onMundesley beach in Norfolk.

Sometimes we were the only people here"

"We've had so many cold, rainy days on June that sometimes we were the only people here" said senior lifeguard, Rob Willmore. "It meant we could get on with drills and we were able to talk about beach safety to dog walkers, but it is nice to see the beach full andit looks like that could happen."

The prediction's also gone down well with Dave and Lena Robson who run Overcliff Lodge B and B at Mundesley on the North Norfolk coast."We had a pretty dismal Easter", Dave admitted. "June wasn't too bad but this news is just the sort of fillip those in the tourist industry need."
