Former England soccer star Paul Gascoigne has arrived at Stevenage Magistrates Court charged with two counts of common assault following an incident at a railway station in Stevenage.

The ex-footballer was also charged with being drunk and disorderly following the incident on July 4.

The former Newcastle United and Tottenham midfielder, who lives in Gateshead, was arrested after officers were called to Stevenage rail station in Hertfordshire at around 10.30pm that evening.

Gascoigne, 46, received treatment for alcoholism in an American clinic earlier this year.
