Friends of a patient who died in a Norfolk hospital and who's at the centre of a murder investigation have today paid tribute to him.
76-year-old Jim May from Great Yarmouth died at the James Paget Hospital last month. A member of the hospital staff is currently on bail after being arrested on suspicion of murder.
George and Trish Lidis had known Mr May for several years, describing him as a private man with a great sense of humour.
"He was full of fun and always winding people up" said Trish.
"We travelled from our home in Melbourne to help make funeral arrangements but that's been postponed indefinitely so we'll just have to come back some time in the future. It's very sad."
Mr May - a divorcee who lived alone - died just hours after being admitted to hospital.
Christine Allen, chief executive of the James Paget Hospital, said the matter had been investigated internally before bring reported to the police.
"Our priority is patient safety and we understand that this news will cause concern," she said.
"At this time, we believe it is an isolated incident and relates to a single member of staff. The member of staff against whom the allegation has been made is absent from the Trust and will not return until the investigation is complete."
