A family from Luton are celebrating their twins' first birthday, something of a miracle given that the pair were born four months premature.
When Caitlin and Daniel Darby arrived last November, it was just 23 weeks into their mother Kayleigh's pregnancy. The babies each weighed about one and a half pounds, and doctors at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital were unsure that they would survive.
A year on though the twins are healthy, happy and developing just as they should be. The family say it is all thanks to the hospital's specialist neo-natal unit, where they say they had fantastic care.
Kayleigh and her husband Thom have been raising money for the unit to say thank you. They hope that it will go towards making other families in situations like theirs comfortable while in hospital.
Meanwhile they have arranged a big family party for the twins' first birthday this week - a day Thom and Kayleigh thought they might never get to see.
