Three fishermen have been rescued off Dunwich in Suffolk after their boat sprung a leak this morning and sunk within three minutes.

Thames Coastguard says lifeboats attended from Aldeburgh and Southwold and found the men on a life raft which had been launched from the stricken vessel 4 miles from the coast.

Its thought the 10 metre long Southern Star, a registered fishing boat, which had set out from Lowestoft had developed a mechanical problem at 10am which allowed it to take on water.

Another vessel the 'Mistress Three' picked up the three men and transferred them to the Southwold Lifeboat, they were then taken to shore. No injuries have been reported.
