Police are stepping up the search for a missing man from Southend as fears grow for his safety. Mark Barnes was reporting missing by his mother on Monday afternoon (December 30) after last being seen on Sunday morning by a neighbour in his garden on Norwich Avenue.
Police say the 36-year-old's family are desperate to find out why he has disappeared and where he is.
During the next 24 hours, police plan to continue to examine his lifestyle in a bid to identify any potential reasons why he's gone missing.
Coastguards will also continue to scour the coastline, looking for any signs of discarded clothing while the police helicopter will also carry out flyovers of the area.
The Waitrose sales assistant is described as white, of medium build, approximately 5ft 8ins tall and has dark, brown hair. He is believed to have left home on a mountain bike so local CCTV is still being examined to see if this can shed any light on where Mark went.
As well as urging for information on Mark’s lifestyle and his whereabouts, police are looking for the mountain bike which is described as well-used, black and grey in colour.
