Two people are being treated for serious burns and eight other people have been taken to hospital with minor injuries after a explosion ripped through homes in Essex this morning, sparking a fire.

Two houses were flattened and a third badly damaged by the blast at Cloes Lane in Clacton and a school has been evacuated.

Ambulance crews have spent the morning assessing casualties and emergency services say everyone has now been accounted for.
