Across the UK pubs are closing a rate of more than 20 a week, but regional brewing has seen something of a resurgence.
In Northampton the Phipps brewery name is returning to a building where the company last made ale almost a century ago.
A hundred years after brewing equipment was taken out, engineers have been putting new tanks and pipes back into the Victorian 'Albion Brewery' building on Foundry Lane in Northampton.
The Phipps brewery hasn't made its Ratliffe ales here for decades, but the brewery's owners are moving back in.
The building has been used as a sweet factory and later a tannery, but everywhere there are hints of its brewing history.
