Schools in the East who fine parents for taking their children away in term time say they believe a fairer system could be found.

Almost half of parents in this region would rather pay a fine than face the cost of taking their family on holiday outside term time.

Parents argue that they cannot afford to go abroad in the school holidays because travel companies put up their prices - and their concerns are being debated in parliament today.
