Teenager sexually assaulted in Ipswich

Police in Ipswich are appealing for information following a sexual assault on a teenager as she was walking home through a park.

The incident happened at around 3.30am on Friday 25 April and was reported to police on Saturday 26 April.

A 19 year old girl had been making her way home across Gippeswyk Park off Ancaster Road in Ipswich. As she walked across the park in the direction of Campion Road at the top end of the park, near to the basketball courts, she noticed a man walking towards her. The man called out to her, asking her where she was going, he then shouted out to her, to come home with him.

The man continued to shout out to her and then came up behind the victim and grabbed her backside with both hands, the victim pushed him away and walked off.

The man followed her again and grabbed her by the arms. A struggle ensued and the victim managed to free herself before running off. The victim sustained scratches to her arm and shoulder.

The offender is described as a white man, around 40 years old, of skinny build and around 6ft tall. He spoke with a foreign accent and wore a burgundy hooded top with the hood up.
