Labour majority: 1

Labour re-gained power in Great Yarmouth in 2012 but have a fight on their hands with the Conservatives and UKIP nipping at their heels. The Liberal Democrats have decided not to field any candidates in the borough concentrating their firepower in other council areas.

Labour have the smallest of overall majorities and in normal times might expect to hang onto power. But UKIP scored well in the seaside town in the County Council elections in 2013 and regard the resort as one of their best chances at the General Election in 2015.

When Borough Council election were last fought in Great Yarmouth in 2012, UKIP gained a 22% share of the vote but that wasn't concentrated enough in any one ward to wins any council seats.

There are 13 of the 39 council seats up for election.
