Rare glimpse of East Anglia in 1939

A remarkable set of pictures have been uncovered showing the love between a young couple blossoming as they travelled through our region just a month before the start of the Second World War.

The pictures feature newlyweds Denys and Margaret Gardiner as they took a road trip across England for their honeymoon.

Colour photos were particularly rare at the time and were taken a cousin who was a photography enthusiast.

They've laid undiscovered in Margaret Gardiner's loft until her death when they were discovered by the couple's grandson, Barney Britton who put them online.
