Thousands of men and women across our region are currently suffering from domestic abuse, whether physical or emotional. In Essex alone nearly 28,000 incidents of abuse were recorded last year.
Now Essex Police and the County Council are launching their largest ever campaign to raise awareness about the problem.
It's being launched to coincide with the World Cup, as police expect incidents of domestic abuse to go up by nearly a third during England games.
The campaign called 'Standing Together' includes leaflets, posters and a video posted online. The public are also being encouraged to get involved on social media, by 'standing together' with abuse victims and tweeting their feet, using the hastags #tweetyourfeet #notodomesticabuse
