New local bands given chance to play at Latitude festival

On one weekend in July more than 35,000 people and 700 performers will descend on Henham Park near Southwold in Suffolk for the ninth Latitude festival.

The line up this year includes Chrissie Hynde, Alison Moyet and Billy Bragg along with the likes of Damon Albarn, Haim and The Black Keys. Dozens of comedians such as Jack Dee, Dara O'Briain and Al Murray.

The festival frequently wins awards for its children's area.

Children really like the kind of thing that you would remember like panning for gold, looking up at the planets through a telescope or watching a fire show or learning to build a camp fire. Experiences that children can actually participate in

This year the organisers have come up with an opportunity for new, local bands. It's called 'Latitude Firsts' and it's a chance for three bands from Norfolk and Suffolk to play the Alcove Stage. Applications are open today and you can find out more at http://www.latitudefestival.com/
