A woman who has devoted her life to helping children with disabilities enjoy horse riding has been made an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours.
After Jean Bedford, from Willington, in Bedfordshire, was seriously injured in a road accident 60 years ago she was helped by keen rider Miriam Godber, who encouraged her to ride in order to strengthen her muscles.
Jean is now a trustee of the Bedford & District Handicapped Riders Association which helps people with disabilities learn to ride.
