Campaigners from the horse racing industry in Newmarket took to Warren Hill today to protest over plans to build up to 400 homes on farmland near the town.
The Newmarket Horsemen's Group says the development at Hatchfield Farm would threaten the future of the racing industry, which employs more than 8,000 people in the area.
But the developers argue the scheme will help meet the demand for housing.

This over urbanisation is a real concern to us, we are not saying this out of a nimby attitude, we are a business ourselves, we appreciate and understand business. But why damage what is such an incredibly large and important asset to our region.
