Cambridge gets ready for "Big Weekend"

Cambridge is hosting the "Big Weekend" which starts Friday night and runs through to Monday. It's part of the build up to the Tour de France which starts in the city on Monday.

There will be three days of free live family entertainment on Parker's Piece.

The people behind the planning of the Tour de France say Cambridge is ready for the event after months of hard work.

Thousands of people are expected to attend the "Big Weekend" on Parker's Piece.

The idea is to create a build up to the Tour de France and encourage more people into Cambridge over the weekend before.

Michael Duignan is a researcher from the Lord Ashcroft International Business School. He says it will generate a lot of income for local businesses in the run up to the event, as well as on the day.
