Four amateur gardeners from Norfolk are making their show debut at Hampton Court Flower Show this week.
The 'Monday Morning Gardening Club', better known as Jane Varanand, Maggie Findlay, Marilyn Barrett and Anne Short came up with the plans for a garden showcasing the best of Thetford a year ago. With a garden designed by Luke Heydon, the team have finally realised their dream
The 'Flintknappers garden' includes a replica of Thetford priory, Castle hill and the Lyndford Stag. And local group, Magpye, even wrote a song especially for the occasion all about Thetford's famous residents throughout history. including Thomas Paine and the cast of Dad's Army.
Hampton Court is the largest flower show in the world but it's a bit more community minded than its cousin at Chelsea which is why groups like the Monday Morning gardening club are allowed to show.
And all the hard work paid off - the judges have awarded the 'Flintknappers Garden' the coveted silver gilt.
