Wheat harvest comes early for bumper crop

Farmers in the region are predicting a bumper crop of wheat this year thanks to an almost perfect combination of rain and sunshine.

`'we had very kind planting in September and October last year. The wheat went in a treat and it's grown through. And we've had good rain and sunlight when we needed it"

– Patrick Mutimer, Farmer

Predictions are that yields will hit 16 million tonnes by the end of the harvest, compared to 12 million tonnes last year. However, worldwide prices are down since yields across the globe have been high in recent years.
