A deep-sea container port in South Essex is attempting to dispel the myth that port work is only for men by actively encouraging women to apply to work there.

DP World London Gateway in Stanford-le-Hope has 50 new jobs and wants more women to drive the cranes.

Currently only 1 in 6 of the 400 employed at the port at the moment are women.

"I think sometimes people will think of ports or docks from many years ago where Grandad worked and a perception that it is manual work but that's not the case today. This is a purpose built world class base and we need people with the right mindset and DNA and we will train them up."
