Highly-rated Colchester United midfielder George Moncur has agreed to join Championship newcomers Barnsley.
A number of clubs were tracking the 22-year-old, with Peterborough United among those known to hold an interest.
However, Moncur has now settled on personal terms at Oakwell, with the move believed to be worth £500,000 to Colchester.
Former West Ham United youngster Moncur scored 14 goals for the U's last season, despite his team getting relegated to League Two.
Peterborough United were also in talks with the player, and chairman Darragh MacAnthony admits he's disappointed to have missed out on his signature.
In terms of incomings, Colchester United have signed former Southend United defender Luke Prosser on a free transfer.
The 28-year-old centre-back has penned a two-year contract at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
Prosser spent the second half of last season at Northampton Town.
