Gold medallist Louis Rolfe has college sports centre named in his honour

Paralympic gold-medallist Louis Rolfe was treated to a hero's welcome when he returned to his college this afternoon.

He was cheered on by hundreds of students and teachers as he opened the newly-named Louis Rolfe Sports Centre at the Cambridge Regional college.

A surprise for the Paralympian, who had no idea what the college had done for him.

The 19-year old certainly made his mark in Rio winning gold alongside Jody Cundy in the mixed team pursuit and a bronze in the individual pursuit.

He says he couldn't have done it without the support of his college.

It's amazing to see the reception that I got coming back to college. It makes me feel really special and honoured.

These guys have seen what hard graft I have had to put myself through, so to come back with these medals around my neck is a really special feeling.

Louis says he will continue to work hard following his success in Rio and is looking forward to seeing where the future takes him.
