Stevenage manager Darren Sarll and striker Matty Godden have both picked up the Sky Bet League Two awards for February.

Sarll led Boro' to five wins and a draw over the period to claim the Managers' award.

And their excellent recent run of seven wins out of eight league games has been helped in no small part by Godden's prolific form.

The 25 year old, named the EFL League Two Player of the Month, scored six goals in February, including two in their win at Crawley on February 4th.

Social media itself has been going crazy the last couple of weeks. But it's not something I really take notice of.

It's obviously nice to be mentioned in the likes of Harry Kane and the top boys. But I've just to keep concentrating on my game and carry on doing what I'm doing.

– Matt Godden, Stevenage striker

Godden currently has the best league goalscoring record in 2017 across the five main competitions in Europe - 12 in 12 games.

His manager Darren Sarll brought him to the club in the summer and says he's been a brilliant signing.

"Matthew's been an absolutely magnificent addition to our playing squad this year," Sarll told ITV News Anglia.

"He has finished those really key chances at such important times that's allowed us to bring in the points that we have done in February.

"I think forwards will always have that prestige and recognition because they get that most unbelievable feeling when they've scored, and they get great recognition for scoring."
