A man has been arrested following a number of reports of a gun being fired at the public in Stowmarket.

Officers were called to Union Street West yesterday evening (Friday 10 March), following reports a window was damaged at a property.

The cause is thought to be ammunition from a low powered firearm.

Five minutes later, police were called to an incident on Navigation Approach, after a member of public reported a man in a van firing a gun at their car.

A third incident was then reported on Gun Cotton Way, of a man driving a van discharging a weapon at another vehicle, causing damage to the driver’s side window of the car.

Just after 7.00pm, in a car park on Cedars Link, another member of the public reported a collision between their car and a van which failed to stop following the incident.

The van thought to have been involved was recovered a short time afterwards.

An investigation has been launched into each of the incidents. No one is thought to have suffered any injuries.

A 33-year-old man from Stowmarket has been arrested on suspicion of discharging a firearm in a public place, criminal damage and driving a vehicle whilst disqualified.

  • Any witnesses to all or part of these incidents or anybody who has any information are asked to call Police on 101 quoting CAD 403 of yesterday, 10 March.
