Ukip has launched its campaign for next month's county council elections in Northamptonshire.

The party currently has three councillors in the county.

Its deputy leader Peter Whittle and East Midlands MEP Roger Helmer were among those at the launch.

Ukip believes what it sees as mismanagement at county hall will help it gain votes.

"Our policies resonate on the ground. Obviously we have seen that people have been giving the benefit of the doubt, sometimes, to the Conservatives under Theresa May - but these are local elections and it's quite clear that there's been tremendous financial disaster by the Tories at county hall which we want to get in and put right."
