A Cambridge couple are appealing for help to track down arsonists who destroyed their vintage sports car.

The 1964 MGB was set alight in its garage in what police believe was a bungled attempt to steal it.

It was the only possession that owner Charles Thomson had inherited from his father when he died.

Although it's insured that would pay for a replacement MG - not cover the cost of restoring this one bequeathed by Charles's father.

Now their friends have set up a fundraising page in the hope of getting it restored.

The couple themselves have put up posters hoping that someone will help the police catch whoever carried out the attack.

Devastated, angry and appalled that anyone could even consider doing it. It's just so pointless... why would you set fire to it?
