Police are reinforcing the potential effects of speeding after a man filmed himself driving his motorbike dangerously in Colchester.
Joseph Wicks, 18, from Braithwaite Drive, Colchester was given a two month suspended sentence at a young offender’s institution following a speeding offence in Colchester in November 2016.
He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving after officers discovered footage he had filmed of himself on a GoPro camera following an unrelated collision he was involved in. This footage showed him riding his motorbike doing excessive speeds in built up areas of Colchester.
Wicks attended Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, June 14 where he received a two month suspended sentence at a young offender’s institution, told he has to undertake 120 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months, ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £115. He was also disqualified from driving until an extended test has been passed.
