A man from Essex who threatened to kill his soon-to-be wife during a row about wedding plans after drinking 40 pints of beer.

Andrew Hollis, 29, and from Earls Colne, turned violent when he and his partner of four years began to disagree on details about their upcoming wedding ceremony.

He pushed her to the sofa and pinned her down before grabbing her by the hands and threatening to kill her.

Colchester Magistrates heard how the couple had been drinking in a pub, but fell out after returning home to discuss their nuptials.

Hollis' partner said she wanted to drop the case and the pair are still due to get married next month.

Hollis admitted assault following the incident on May 21 and was fined £736, as well as being ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £73.
